Leaving Puerto Jimenez, a 35 minute drive through cattle country along the Golfo Dulce, visitors turn left off the main Carate road and head to the beach. Passing through the two white stone pillars into Matapalo where the residents of the small community have preserved the natural beauty using tropical plants and coconut palms to delineate property lines, visitors drive past the three surf breaks which make Matapalo a major surf destination. The 3.5 Km beachfront road passes the breaks in order: Pan Dulce, Backwash Bay and Matapalo. In addition, a short boat ride adds Pavones to the surfing menu.
Our 15 Ha (37acre) property faces the Golfo Dulce and Pavones Surf break on one side and to the South the open ocean and the Cape of the Osa Peninsula on the other side. It has 700 meters of beachfront
There are 31/2 structures on the property. One is a large house which is currently a rental for tourists. It is in the titled area facing Golfo Dulce and closest to the Matapalo surf break. A caretaker house guards at the foot of the driveway. Further toward the Cape, a beachfront Lanai-style house faces the Cape and open ocean (see DSCN photos attached). The ½ house is a second caretaker house which is only partially finished. Other than these structures, the land is undisturbed. |
